Neuro Exercise Physiology (EP)

We offer an amazing EP service here at NPG.  EPs have the knowledge and skills to design, deliver and evaluate safe and effective exercise interventions for our neurological and concussion populations.  There are multiple ways to engage in EP services with options ranging from 1:1 sessions to small groups.  We perform novel strengthening interventions such as blood flow resistance (BFR) training, ensuring our clients achieve maximum benefit from their sessions.

What is the difference between physio and EP?

Both physios and EPs will use exercise as a treatment intervention, but an EP will also take a very holistic approach towards long-term management of health and function. This includes addressing comorbidities such as diabetes or high blood pressure, as well as the primary neurological condition. Weight gain in conditions such as idiopathic intracranial hypertension can be very problematic and EPs play a vital role in supporting weight loss through safe exercise and lifestyle interventions.

EPs are experts at supporting clients to implement behavioural change to create sustainable, long-term change in both health and physical activity. Physios have a more significant role in diagnosis and treatment.
