Neuro Referrals - Additional Info

Certain neurological conditions (eg. dementia, ASD, epilepsy, intellectual disability) don’t fit our referral criteria unless there are specific physical neurological impairments such as muscle weakness, abnormal motor control or sensation, coordination issues, abnormal tone and spasticity. Furthermore, compressed or inflamed nerves caused by herniated discs, degenerative disc disease or spinal stenosis are better managed by a musculoskeletal physiotherapist. Please get in touch if you are unsure, we are more than happy to have a discussion and determine if we can help.

Concussion Referrals - Additional Info

We offer two concussion referral pathways to ensure patients receive the most appropriate care. Geelong Concussion Collaboration (GCC) is a multidisciplinary partnership that brings together physiotherapy, exercise physiology, neuropsychology, neuro‑optometry and medical expertise to provide coordinated, early‑intervention concussion rehabilitation for funded clients with more complex injuries.

• GCC referrals must be submitted within six months of a confirmed concussion (mild traumatic brain injury) diagnosis and are available for TAC and WorkSafe clients only.

• If the concussion occurred more than six months ago, or the patient is privately funded, please complete the “All Other Concussion Referrals” form. These clients require a confirmed diagnosis and will then be assessed by a physiotherapist; we have priority appointments available for those in the acute phase (from four days post injury).
